Bug Spray and B.O.

I went out hunting by myself this morning, since Julie and our youngest were out perusing local garage sales. It started out nice, around 60 degrees, but got hot very quickly. I knew from the last tip there that the bugs would be terrible. I doused myself in bug spray and headed out. By the time I got back to the truck this afternoon, I was smelling pretty funky. I can't wait for the weather to get back to normal.

On the bright side, my shooting was back to normal today. I carried my Winchester Model 42 for the first time today. I also wore my glasses instead of contact lenses. The Model 42 is a sweet little gun - I love it! It weighs under 6 pounds and has no recoil whatsoever.

I saw one red squirrel and 5 fox squirrels. The weather excepting, it was a good day.

The weather has been terrible for hunting here in Virginia too (not sure where you are.) I found your site on the OBS blog and would like to add it to my blogroll.

Matt,
We live in Ohio. It has been more like August weather here. Later this week it should start getting back to normal. I enjoy hunting in the morning while it is still cool out, but hate the hike back to the truck when the weather has been so hot. Yes Andy I said it, I don't like too hot of weather. Coming from me that is hard to beleive. I perfer summer weather over winter. When we moved here from Georgia I thought I was going to freeze to death during the first winter.

Hi Matt, thanks for stopping by. Like Julie said, we hunt in Ohio. We just hunt public land, but that covers a lot of area around here.

Believe it or not, the lows on friday through sunday are supposed to be in the 30's! How's that for variety?

Please feel free to add me to your blogroll. I don't think I had been over to your blog before. I did take a look around yesterday and I like what I see. If you don't mind, I'll be adding you to the blogroll.

Good luck this season. I hope your son is able to see a few deer on one of these trips when he is out with you.

There's a natural insect repellent that I like. You can order it in bulk and then pour it into smaller containers.

It also works great on getting rid of fleas in and around your home.

It's called CedarCide. You can find them on the web at cedercide.com. They have a line of repellent products made from Red Cedar chips and Red Cedar oil.
